The Christmas Moon
I discovered this enchanting scene just across the Coshocton County line in picturesque Tuscarawas County, Ohio, about a week before a warm and inviting Thanksgiving day. With a clear plan in place, I set out on a quest to locate a striking lone tree. The first time I encountered this captivating view, I stopped right in the middle of the road, excitement bubbling inside me, and quickly got out to capture it on camera. In fact, it was probably the fourth or fifth tree I photographed along this road that very day. As I finished up and climbed back into the truck, Miss Jan, with a teasing smile, asked me if I intended to stop and shoot every single tree in this township! I couldn’t help but chuckle and replied, "Nope... only the really good ones." While I was editing the photographs later, I thought about how a gentle layer of snow might enhance the overall beauty of the image dramatically. Then, a couple of weeks later, as I glanced out the window on my way to the kitchen for a much-needed cup of coffee, I noticed delicate snowflakes beginning to dance down from a gray sky. I swiftly poured the coffee into a travel mug, grabbed my trusty camera bag, and eagerly headed back to the scene. Multiple layers of textures were blended together to create a mesmerizing atmosphere of the evening sky. To add to the magic, the bright full moon was incorporated in Photoshop, followed by the application of transparent inks to bring the entire composition to life.
